Dolby Digital Sound
Customer Reviews:
Nice design, nice power, poor quality.
For the price, I guess you get what you pay for. 1000 Watts of power?, not quite. I bought this unit last week, and will be returning it. 1. While the sound is great for the price, it doesn’t go loud enough. The 2 movies we’ve watched with it so far, we had the volume at the max (50) just to get a decent sound. 2. The display is so dim that you cannot read it unless you are a foot in front of it, and that is on the brightest setting(should have on-screen display). You are not able to see what settings you are changing due to the poorly lit display, if you want to up the volume or try to adjust the sound from your couch. You are stuck trying to adjust the sound by sitting a foot from the receiver. I have a 14 year old pro logic receiver that puts out 80w/channel, and can go several times louder than this so-called 150 watt per channel receiver. 3. Also, the speakers wires, are hard-wired to the back of the unit, so if you want to add longer wires to the rear speakers, you have to splice it to the existing wires, or try to take the speakers apart and re-wire them. The receiver probably weighs about 5 lbs, if that, it feels like an empty case.
Don’t waste your time with this unit.
terrible system
I wanted a powerful thousand watt system to replace my 350 watt system that was getting old and did not have the inputs that i would like now that I have an hdtv. This system has all the inputs and outputs necessary for home theater it really lacks in sound quality. There is no hard thumping realistic bass. My old system had a 100 hundred watt sub the sounded so much better. When watching a movie with gunshots and special effects I would say that this system will leave you unsatisfied.
Middle of the road Home Theater without svideo
I orginally purchased the RT2600 650 watt model years ago and when that one started to break down ( started to blow fuses and lost main channels), I purchased the RT2770 as an upgrade.
Pros:
I really like the black case( rt2660 was silver)and the addition of the USB port was nice as well. Light weight design and a back lighted volume knob. The subwoofer has some selectibilty with respect to low, med, high.
Cons:
Not quite a swap out for the old unit I had. Fewer inputs, Lost one optical and lost the seperate channels for the DVD player. all video control removed.
The DSP modes are no longer supported for all the inputs only the radio has the DSP sound effects (theater, church, hall, etc).
The S-video I/O has been removed this is a huge draw back.
The remote has been greatly similified, almost half as small as the RT2660 version. I only really used the volume control but I liked having the features
Over all sound is not as loud/enhanced as the old 650 watt model.
Thinking of having my old rt2660 repaired and returning this unit.

WoW !
My RCA Home Theater System Rt2770 was given to me as a Christmas present so that I could enjoy a 5.1 speaker system in my bedroom .
WOW, was I ever impressed! The unit has a very impressive sound in all the various formats, and gives a very realistic audio experience to the videos that you are watching. The volume is excellent. If you want to really kick out the db’s for the listening experience of your favorite music cd’s, use your tv as a pre-amp and loop the audio back to the RCA unit.
I also own a 770 Watt Pioneer 7-channel surround sound amplified receiver for my home theater room, and a JVC 150 watt 7-channel surround sound amplified receiver for my family room video system. Both of these units cost much more than my RCA home theater system and I must say I enjoy the RCA receiver much more. Needless to say the RCA home theater receiver is now used as my primary system in the home theater room. Just don’t forget that the RCA Rt2770 needs a pre-amplified audio signal when used to play music cd’s very loud(this can be done very easily by looping the audio signal through the tv.) And always keep the unit well ventilated so that the unit does not over heat and burn out.
1000????watt I dont think so
I was impressed by the reviews and purchased this product. In my 10 X 18 media room you have to crank it up to 45 ( 50 being max vol) and that is via the digital coaxial connector!! I replaced the front speakers with my Bose 201’s and it helped a little but I will replace this asap. Great for a childs room. New progressive digital dvd player is connected to the system.
